Brussels, 02/03/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Commission authorised the Belgian construction materials company Etex to buy the Pipe Systems division from the British company Glynwed International Plc. The activities of Etex and Glynwed include the production and sale of pipe systems used to transmit fluids and gases. However, the parties activities within the sector are largely complementary and do not lead to the creation of strengthening of a dominant position. Moreover, there exist sufficiently powerful competitors (Uponor, Wavin, Geberit and Pipelife) in the Member States where the parties have a cumulated market share of more than 20% for certain products.
