Brussels, 06/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday, the European Commission adopted a proposal aimed at extending until 30 June 2001 the system of compensation set up for the Spanish and Portuguese fishing fleets that had to cease their activities when the fisheries agreement with Morocco expired on 30 November 1999. It is thus responding to a request presented to it by the European Council of Nice.
