Haitian Government considers EU sanctions premature and precipitated - ACP group calls for resumption of consultations

Brussels, 06/02/2001 (Agence Europe) - The Union's decision to suspend its cooperation with Haiti (see EUROPE of 2 February, p.11) has been condemned both by the Haitian authorities and the ACP group of countries whose representatives had taken part in the EU/Haiti consultation meeting in Brussels on 26 September in application of Article 96 of the Cotonou Agreement (see EUROPE of 29 September, p.13).
