Commission approves two aid schemes in favour of farming in Sardinia

Brussels, 18/01/2001 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission approved the major part of two State aid packages for the agricultural sector in the Italian region of Sardinia. One aims to compensate for the damage caused by drought during 2000 and the other concerns compensation for damage caused by Ovine catarrhal fever (known as blue tongue).

The first package of measures will channel most of the funds to farmers who lost crops following drought and to those who were unable to produce...
