Sequencing of genome of thale cress is complete - Commissioner Busquin expresses satisfaction

Brussels, 15/12/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European research project, financed up to EUR 26 million by the European Commission since 1991, has resulted in the first full sequencing of 115 million "base pairs" encoding nearly 26,000 genes, making up the full genome of the weed "Arabidopsis thaliana", known as thale cress.
