Ms Lienemann recommends amending directive on patentability of biotechnological inventions

Brussels, 26/06/2000 (Agence Europe) - In a written question put to the European Commission, French Socialist Marie-Noëlle Lienemann asked whether, given the reaction of citizens and the scientific world and also the agreement between Mr Blair and Mr Clinton aimed at banning the marketing of the human genome, it would not be appropriate to bring into question the part of the Community directive concerning the patenting of sequences of the human genetic heritage.
