Brussels, 19/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The initiative taken by the Council presidency to launch the debate on the place that should, in future, be reserved for urban environment in the Union's sustainable development policy was welcomed by the EU15 environment ministers during their informal Council in Porto, chaired by José Socrates (see EUROPE of 18 April, p.8 and 15 April, p.9).
