C&N (4.65 bn turnover for the year to end-October), Germany's second largest travel company, is to make a bid for the British travel agents THOMSON TRAVEL GROUP at 130 pence a share, or a total of £1.3 bn. The latter immediately rejected the bid, considering it "totally inadequate". Present in 7 European countries (UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway), THOMSON TRAVEL GROUP had a turnover of £3 bn in 1999.
