05/04/2000 (Agence Europe) - The "culture 2000" programme, approved by the European Parliament and the Council last 14 February after a long and difficult consultation, was published in the official Journal Nº L/63. It covers the years 2000 and 2004, with a budgetary allocation of EUR 167 million for the whole period. It contains two annexes of which: the first describes the actions and events covered by the programme and gives a opening to the available funds between the different actions (European Culture Capital, European cultural month, new cultural events, etc.); the second annex describes the main objectives in the different areas (music, shows, books, reading and translation, cultural heritage, etc.).
