Brussels, 25/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - On Saturday 26 February, the European Commission is organising an Conference entitled "The Euro Made Easy" to which it has invited consumer organisations and NGOs active among the elderly or disabled, as well as the fringes of society who may not be reached by traditional means. This operation comes within the framework of the new information strategy in view of the introduction of the euro that Commissioner de Silguy will present to the EcoFin Council on Monday. The introductory speeches will be made by Christa Randzio-Plath MEP and Tony Venables of Ecas (European Citizen Action Service). Robert J Coleman, director General of DG Health and Consumer Protection, will conclude work in which will, notably, be presented the results of studies on the psychological aspects to take account of in the framework of the use of the euro.
