Text of Commissioner Monti's Statement announcing that the Commission will attack tax schemes to companies with the character of aid

Brussels, 25/02/2000 (Agence Europe) - Faced with uncertainties regarding the intentions of Member States on how to follow-up the "Primarolo Report" (see other article, p. 7), the European Commission for competition, Mario Monti announced that the Commission could attack national tax schemes harmful to other Member states, brought to light in the report, under its powers regarding State aid (see EUROPE of 24 February, p.8).
