Belgium resumes controls at intra-Community borders to check on the regularisation of those people without papers

Brussels, 10/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - From Monday, the Belgian authorities have resumed identity controls at its borders. Although the duration has not been stipulated, these controls should last at least three weeks. This is the length of time provided for for the lodging of requests for the regularisation of the sans papiers (those without identification papers) in Belgium, operation that, according to the Belgian authorities, justified the reestablishment of these controls.
