According to the Sunday Times, BRITISH TELECOM is about to bid USD 2.1 billion for the Irish operator ESAT, thus countering the hostile bid by Norway's TELENOR. BT will allegedly bid USD 95 per share, as against TELENOR's bid of USD 85. See EI of 24 December.
