Mario Monti to submit a proposal to the Commission on 18 January for an investigation into German state aid to Holzmann

Brussels, 10/01/2000 (Agence Europe) - The European Commissioner for competition, Mario Monti, will be submitting a proposal to the Commission on 18 January recommending the opening of an investigation into German state aid of DEM 250 million to the Philipp Holzmann group, the Commissioner's spokesman confirmed on Monday. The Commission has doubts about the justification of this aid scheme, notably insofar as it does not really restore Holzmann's financial stability and the conditions...
