28/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 24 July, the spokesperson for the European External Action Service (EEAS) underlined the EU’s deep concern over the escalation of violence in the West Bank. Earlier in the day, clashes between settlers who had entered the Palestinian village of Tell, near Nablus, and residents left six people dead: four Palestinians and two Israelis. These events “remind us of the fragility of the situation on the ground”, the spokesperson explained in a statement. “The European Union urges all parties to avoid inflammatory language, contribute to de-escalation, and put an end to the vicious cycle of violence”, he added. The EU is currently considering new sanctions against violent settlers and those who support them. Discussions on banning trade with Israeli settlements, meanwhile, are at a standstill (see EUROPE 13914/3). (CG)
