16/07/2026 (Agence Europe) – The G7 Foreign Ministers (Germany, Canada, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States) and the EU High Representative, Kaja Kallas, urged the Rapid Support Forces and allied armed groups, on Wednesday 15 July, to immediately cease any action liable to lead to further atrocities or endanger civilians in El-Obeid, notably drone strikes and obstruction of humanitarian access. In a joint statement, the G7 called on these forces and groups to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law and international human rights law, where applicable. The ministers called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and direct negotiations in good faith. “We call on the United Nations Security Council to expand the arms embargo on Darfur region to the entire Sudanese territory,” the ministers also urged.
