07/07/26 (Agence Europe) – On 2 July, the European Commission opened a consultation period allowing stakeholders to submit their comments until 1 September on its proposal for the Cloud and AI Development Act (CADA) and on the Chips Act 2.0, two initiatives that are central elements of the Tech Sovereignty Package which is intended to reduce Europe’s dependence on third countries in strategic sectors such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence and cloud computing (see EUROPE 13880/1). During the same period, the Commission is also calling for additional feedback on the Digital Networks Act (see EUROPE 13791/8, 13885/9), which is intended to modernise, simplify and harmonise the rules applicable to connectivity networks. The comments collected will feed into the legislative process relating to these various texts. (APH)
