05/06/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 4 June, the European Commission opened an anti-dumping investigation into imports of certain aliphatic-aromatic copolyesters originating in China. This category of biodegradable plastic is used in particular for compostable packaging and agricultural films. This decision follows the filing of a complaint on 20 April 2026 by the German company BASF, the world’s largest chemical group in terms of turnover. “The complainant provided evidence that imports of the product under investigation [...] have increased overall in absolute terms and in terms of market share” and have had a negative impact on the European market, the document states. The investigation of dumping and injury will cover the period from 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025. Consult the notice: https://aeur.eu/f/m6w (JV)
