27/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – The ambassadors of the EU Member States examined, on Wednesday 27 May, the proposals for the 21st package of sanctions against Russia, which should be more modest than the previous ones and focus on targeted sanctions against those undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity. The proposals are aimed at sanctioning entities contributing to Russia’s military-industrial complex and enabling shadow fleet activities. They also include the establishment of a nine-month derogation for the Chinese semiconductor company Yangzhou Yangjie Electronic Technology Co., sanctioned under the 20th package of measures. The company would remain sanctioned, but this derogation would allow car manufacturers to find alternative suppliers and thus avoid disruption to their production. This week, the Council Working Party (Relex) will examine the proposals, which will then be submitted for approval to the ambassadors, and then to the Council. (CG)
