Biovac vaccines plant - development finance institution Proparco mobilises additional €20 million with EU guarantee

27/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – Nearly six weeks after the announcement of €75 million in support from the European Investment Bank Group (EIB Global) for Biovac, the first African multi-vaccine production site under construction in South Africa (see EUROPE 13851/19), the EU delegation in Pretoria announced, on Tuesday 26 May, a ‘new’ ‘Team Europe’ investment programme totalling €95 million. This final amount includes the €75 million announced in April, to which an additional €20 million mobilised by the French development finance institution Proparco has been added, backed by a financial guarantee from the ‘European Fund for Sustainable Development’ (‘EFSD+’), the Transforming Global Value Chains (EDFI TGVC), the EU delegation told Agence Europe on Wednesday. (BD)
