27/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On the occasion of the European Diversity Month 2026, the network of ambassadors for diversity in transport (“#DiversityInTransport Network”), supported by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (DG MOVE), organised a webinar on 20 May. The event, which brought together researchers, public transport stakeholders, urban mobility specialists and international organisations, provided an opportunity to examine the influence of gender, migration backgrounds and discrimination on the use of transport, access to mobility services and representation in the sector’s professions. The need to go beyond one-size-fits-all approaches in transport planning, by giving greater consideration to issues of safety, accessibility and affordability, was also underlined, and several European initiatives for the development of more inclusive transport systems were also presented.
