22/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 22 May, the European Commission announced the release of €15 million in emergency aid for the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, which are facing a new Ebola outbreak. This funding will be used to step up medical operations, prevention and screening in high-risk areas. On the logistical front, more than six tonnes of medical equipment have already been transported to the DRC, and a humanitarian air bridge operated with UNICEF is still due to deliver 100 tonnes of additional supplies this weekend to support 100,000 people. The Commission stressed that, at this stage, there was “no need for to be overly concerned” about the health situation in Europe, while assuring that “maximum vigilance” was being maintained on the ground.
