21/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – In the face of the emergence of new Ebola hotspots in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda, more than €2.7 million in European aid – out of the €20 million planned for Uganda in 2026 – will be specifically reallocated to the epidemic response, Hadja Lahbib, Commissioner for Equality, Preparedness and Crisis Management, announced on Wednesday 20 May on X. A humanitarian air bridge to the DRC is also planned, in partnership with UNICEF, with a view to transporting nearly 100 tonnes of medical supplies and protective equipment. Lastly, a €2 million grant awarded under the EU4Health programme should enable the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to analyse wastewater in order to monitor developments in the virus and other pathogens in the region.
