21/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – Dutch environmentalist MEP Bas Eickhout, co-chair of the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament, announced on the evening of Wednesday 20 May that he was resigning from the European Parliament. He had co-chaired the Greens/EFA group with German MEP Terry Reintke since 2024. “I have given a great deal of thought to whether to continue my commitment after the mid-term elections, and I have come to the conclusion that I no longer have the energy for it,” the elected official wrote on Bluesky, referring to the European Parliament’s mid-term reorganisation at the start of 2027. Bas Eickout joined in the European Parliament in 2009. (SP)
