11/05/26 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 7 May, the European Commission and the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) launched a call for expressions of interest (https://aeur.eu/f/lut ) to participate in the new ‘European Bioeconomy Investment Deployment Group’, designed to accelerate the financing of sustainable bio-based innovations. The aim of this platform is to mobilise public and private investment to bridge the financing gap in the bioeconomy sector and support innovative industrial projects. The group will include the European Commission, the European Investment Bank (EIB), national public banks, commercial institutions and private investors. The initiative is part of the new European strategy for a competitive and sustainable bioeconomy. It follows an EIB report highlighting the sector’s potential, but also the persistent difficulties in financing demonstration projects and the first industrial units. (LC)
