11/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – A humanitarian flight mobilised by the European Union delivered more than 4,500 emergency shelter and household items to Lebanon on Monday 11 May, according to a press release from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), which was present at the operation. This aid is intended to support more than a million people displaced by the escalating war in the Middle East. The cargo included tarpaulins and kitchen sets for families living in extreme poverty. “This timely support is helping scale up life-saving assistance”, welcomed Mathieu Luciano, head of the IOM office in Beirut, warning that “without sustained international support, conditions risk deteriorating even further”. Although the UN agency has already assisted 27,600 people since March, it deplores the fact that “while humanitarian needs continue to outpace available resources”, major funding gaps are “threatening the scale-up of relief efforts”.
