11/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 11 May, the European Commission launched a consultation to gather the views of interested parties until 6 July on the development of a new strategy to combat corruption in the European Union, particularly in its cross-border dimension. The future strategy could include measures to improve the prevention and detection of fraud, the investigation and prosecution of corruption and the recovery of assets. Increased cooperation will also be sought between the players involved at European and national level, i.e. the Member States, the private sector, civil society and international partners. According to the Commission, conservative estimates indicate that corruption costs the EU economy at least €120 billion a year. Take part in the public consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/luv (MB)
