Brussels, 07/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 6 May, the ambassadors of the Member States to the European Union (Coreper) gave the go-ahead for the signing - at the EU/Mexico summit on Friday 22 May (see EUROPE 13860/29) - of the modernised comprehensive political and economic cooperation agreement and the interim trade agreement. The European Parliament will then be asked to give its consent to these agreements, even though, as with the EU/Mercosur trade agreement (see EUROPE 13860/9), the interim trade agreement with Mexico should apply provisionally until all Member States ratify the global cooperation agreement. Negotiations between the EU and Mexico on the revision of bilateral relations were finalised in January 2025 (see EUROPE 13560/1). (MB)
