07/05/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 7 May, the European Commission selected nine hydrogen production projects under the third European Hydrogen Bank (EHB) call for tenders, which will receive funding of around €1.09 billion from the EU Innovation Fund. These projects, in seven countries of the European Economic Area (Greece, Spain, Denmark, Austria, Finland, Germany and Norway), are expected to provide nearly 1.1 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity and produce more than 1.3 million tonnes of hydrogen in their first ten years of operation, thereby avoiding greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to 9 million tonnes of CO2, the European Commission said in a press release.
