09/04/2026 (Agence Europe) – As neither the EU Council nor European Parliament raised any objections to the delegated regulation on the EU’s new list of projects of common interest and projects of mutual interest (PCIs/PMIs), it was published in the Official Journal of the European Union by the European Commission this Thursday 9 April (https://aeur.eu/f/lh8 ). This second EU list includes 235 cross-border energy infrastructure projects (electricity, hydrogen, CO2, gas) eligible for funding from the ‘Connecting Europe Facility’ (CEF) (see EUROPE 13763/9). Criticism had emerged within civil society and political groups such as the Greens/EFA and The Left in European Parliament regarding the number of hydrogen infrastructure projects, deemed to be excessive, and the inclusion of gas projects, such as the EastMed pipeline project, which connects gas reserves in the eastern Mediterranean to mainland Greece via Cyprus and Crete (see EUROPE 13816/16).
