Innovation: European Commission awards €20 million in funding to 41 cutting-edge Ukrainian start-ups and SMEs

On Wednesday 1 April, the European Commission awarded €20 million in funding to 41 leading Ukrainian start-ups and SMEs, following a call for proposals from the European Innovation Council (EIC) aimed at helping them turn their innovative ideas into concrete solutions, according to a press release. Each company will receive between €300,000 and €500,000, as well as the opportunity to gain faster access to the EIC Accelerator, which offers larger grants and equity investments through the EIC Fund. “EU funding will help bridge a critical financing gap, enabling these deep tech pioneers to progress from early-stage development to market-ready deployment” in sectors such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and cybersecurity.
