27/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 27 March, the European Commission announced that it had approved the registration of ‘Erbazzone Reggiano’ (Italy) and ‘Kayseri Pastırması’ (Turkey) as protected geographical indications (PGIs). ‘Erbazzone Reggiano’ is an Emilia-Romagna herb pie, filled with spinach, chard, breadcrumbs and Parmigiano Reggiano PDO aged for at least 24 months, with an upper crust sprinkled with crispy lardons. ‘Kayseri Pastırması’ is a spicy, air-dried beef pastrami from the province of Kayseri, renowned for its dominant taste of cumin and fenugreek, made according to the ‘Pastırma Summer’ tradition on Mount Erciyes. These two products join more than 3,900 protected names in the eAmbrosia database. (LC)
