27/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – The Gas Coordination Group, which met on Thursday 26 March, bringing together the European Commission and EU Member States, confirmed that there is currently no risk to the security of gas supply. Although gas storage levels are below the average of the last five years (see EUROPE 13834/3), “they remain stable and early injection into stocks will allow the EU to benefit from a longer injection period and Member States to adapt to market conditions”, said the Commission. Against the backdrop of the conflict in the Middle East, the blocking of the Strait of Hormuz, and the loss of LNG cargoes to Europe in favour of the Asian continent, the institution says it is coordinating with its international partners, “particularly in Asia”, “in order to share its experience and coordinate potential actions”.
