27/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – Three flights coordinated by the European Commission this week delivered almost 150 tonnes of emergency supplies to Lebanon via a humanitarian airlift, according to a press release published on Friday 27 March. This operation, financed by the €100 million European aid package released for the country ten days earlier (see EUROPE 13829/5), aims to help more than a million displaced people fleeing the worsening conflict in the Middle East. The cargo, consisting of medical equipment, hygiene kits and food, comes from EU stocks and from partners such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the Red Cross. These deliveries also include donations from Belgium, Germany, Ireland and Italy, mobilised after Beirut activated the Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM). (JM)
