02/03/2026 (Agence Europe) – In a report published on 26 February, the Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on International Trade (INTA), Bernd Lange, recommended supporting the extension of the international agreement on olive oil and table olives. Its aim is to ensure uniform national and international legislation on olive oils and table olives in order to prevent barriers to trade and consolidate international standards by improving knowledge of the composition and characteristics of olives. This agreement came into force on 1 January 2017 and runs until 31 December 2026. A decision adopted at the 119th meeting of the Council of Members of the International Olive Oil Council (IOC) in June 2024 aims to extend the agreement by five years after the end of its application. Mr. Lange, European Parliament rapporteur for this extension, therefore recommends supporting this decision. To see the report: https://aeur.eu/f/kyu (PLD)
