04/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 3 February, the Slovenian Parliament approved the appointment of Primož Dolenc as Governor of the Bank of Slovenia, bringing to an end more than a year of interim management of the institution. Since Boštjan Vasle’s term of office expired in January 2025, the candidates put forward by the Slovenian president, Nataša Pirc Musar, had failed to win the support of the ‘Freedom Movement’, the main party in the parliamentary majority. Mr Dolenc’s appointment puts an end to this period of institutional deadlock and comes ahead of the next meeting of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB), scheduled for Thursday 5 February in Frankfurt.
