04/02/2026 (Agence Europe) – In a statement published on Tuesday 3 February, the European agency Europol announced its direct support for a search operation targeting the French offices of the social network X. The investigation, led by the Paris public prosecutor’s office and the French Gendarmerie’s national Cyber unit, concerns suspected complicity in the distribution of child sexual abuse material, sexual deepfakes and Holocaust denial content on the platform. Europol is currently coordinating the necessary technical expertise through the European Cybercrime Centre (EC3), which has sent a specialist analyst to assist the French investigators. The aim is to analyse Grok’s artificial intelligence algorithms, which are already the subject of an investigation by the European Commission (see EUROPE 13794/9) and detect potential moderation failures.
