MEPs approve agreement with EU Council on European regulation on rail capacity management

27/01/26 (Agence Europe)On Tuesday 27 January, the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) approved the agreement with the Council of the European Union on the European regulation on rail capacity management, by 35 votes to five. Obtained in November (see EUROPE 13755/8), this agreement provides for rail infrastructure capacity planning to be divided into three periods: strategic planning every five years, annual planning, and adaptation. Infrastructure managers in each EU country will remain primarily responsible for planning and managing rail infrastructure and traffic. The European Network of Infrastructure Managers (ENIM) will be given greater powers to coordinate cross-border capacity and traffic within the EU. The text must now be approved by the EU Council and then by the whole European Parliament. Read the agreement: https://aeur.eu/f/kfi (AD)
