EU and Brazil formalise recognition of adequacy of their legislation governing personal data protection

On Monday 26 January, the European Commission and Brazil adopted adequacy decisions recognising that European and Brazilian legislation ensures comparable levels of personal data protection.

These decisions, which have been in force since their adoption and in place for four years, allow companies, public authorities and researchers to freely exchange data between the European Union and Brazil, without any additional requirements.
