Brussels, 26/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – The first meeting of the G7 finance ministers under the French Presidency will take place on Tuesday 27 January by videoconference, confirmed the office of French minister Roland Lescure on Monday 26 January. Roland Lescure will take this opportunity to present France’s priorities for its Presidency. Discussions will also focus on securing strategic supply chains, particularly for rare earths. At a working meeting on this issue in Washington on 12 January, the question of a floor price for certain rare earths was raised (see EUROPE 13785/3). Also on Tuesday’s agenda will be continued financial support for Ukraine, as well as the reduction of global imbalances and the creation of a new framework for international partnerships, two priorities on the agenda of the G7 summit to be held in Évian in mid-June.
