European citizens’ initiative ‘Stop Destroying Videogames’ is valid

26/01/2026 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 January, the European Commission announced that the European citizens’ initiative (ECI) ‘Stop Destroying Videogames’ had been validated after gathering almost 1.3 million valid signatures from 24 Member States. The EU institution now has until Monday 27 July to examine the ECI organisers’ request that video game publishers should not render their games non-functional remotely.
