03/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 December, the Member States were still unable to give the green light to the draft general approach on the return of people residing illegally in the European Union (see EUROPE 13764/6). Their ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) will be asked to discuss the matter again on Friday 5 December, several sources have told Agence Europe. The details of the introduction of compulsory mutual recognition of return orders issued in the Member States and the European Return Order, which will serve as the basis for this mutual recognition, still need to be fine-tuned.
