In a working document published on Wednesday 3 December, the European energy ministers are invited to a discuss, at a working lunch, security of supply and European competitiveness “in a shifting global energy landscape”.
This lunch will take place during the Energy Council meeting on Monday 15 December (see EUROPE 13763/11) and anticipates the presentation, expected in early 2026, of the revised energy security framework by the European Commission.
In its presentation document, the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union discusses the security of supply challenges arising from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the repercussions of climate change and the transformation of the energy system.
The Presidency asks: “in light of the shifting global energy landscape, evolving geopolitical trends, and new energy security threats, how can the EU ensure security of supply and remain competitive?”
This session will be introduced by the Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), Fatih Birol.
