03/12/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 3 December, the European Commission announced the appointment of Joost Korte as Special Envoy for the EU-Canada Partnership, with immediate effect. He reports directly to the President of the EU institution, Ursula von der Leyen. In his new role, this official, a Dutch national, will “reinforce the strategic steer and coordination of the implementation of that partnership, notably to ensure effective follow-up of the commitments falling within the scope of the Commission’s competences”, the Commission said in a press release. He will be supported by various Commission departments and will work closely with the European External Action Service. (CG)
