Brussels, 14/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – The European Parliament gave the green light to the Digital Trade Agreement (DTA) between the EU and Singapore at a plenary session vote in Brussels on Thursday 13 November. This validation is the final approval required from the EU before the agreement can officially enter into force, following its signature last May. The two parties concluded negotiations in July 2024 (see EUROPE 13461/7). This agreement, which is the first of its kind, complements the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, which came into force in 2019. It should further link the two economies, half of whose total trade in services, worth €43 billion, was conducted digitally by 2022, notably by reducing administrative burdens and increasing legal predictability and certainty for businesses.
