14/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – The 7th meeting of the EU and Central Asia Special Representatives and Envoys for Afghanistan and the EU Special Representative for Central Asia was held in Brussels on Wednesday 12 November to discuss developments in the situation in the country. The participants stressed the importance of “lasting peace and sustainable development”, as stated in an EEAS press release, and welcomed the prospects for strengthening EU-Central Asia cooperation for the benefit of the Afghan people. More broadly, the participants discussed the international obligations to which the Taliban are subject, particularly in terms of human rights, especially those of women and girls. The Afghan economy, climate change, inclusion, drugs policy and other security issues were also discussed. The last meeting of this type took place on 5 February. (PLD)
