06/11/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 6 November, the EU’s agricultural organisations and cooperatives (Copa-Cogeca) welcomed the advances made in the ‘wine package’ as amended by the European Parliament’s Agriculture Committee (see EUROPE 13746/9). Notable improvements include extended deadlines for promotional activities and support for wine tourism, as well as higher cofinancing rates for crisis measures (grubbing-up, green harvesting, distillation). The simplification of procedures for new planting authorisations was also welcomed. However, Copa-Cogeca has reservations about the restrictions imposed on support programmes for beneficiaries of crisis measures. The organisation is insisting on the need to adopt wording during the trilogues with the Council of the EU that preserves the ability of winegrowers to replant, in order to “favour innovation and adaptation” in the sector.
