Europeans want EU to play greater role in protecting them, according to new survey

According to a new European Parliament Eurobarometer survey revealed on Wednesday 3 September, 68% of respondents want the EU to play a greater role in protecting citizens against global crises and security risks in the future.

Europeans believe that the EU should prioritise defence and security (37%), as well as competitiveness, the economy and industry (32%) and ‘energy independence, resources and infrastructure’ (27%).
