On Wednesday 3 September, IFOAM Organics Europe unveiled a documentary from its #OrganicDelivers campaign highlighting the little-known benefits of organic farming in the EU.
“Organics delivers more than you think”, said Eduardo Cuoco, director of the organisation. “Organic agriculture of course delivers for nature and for animal welfare, but it is also a driver for agroecological innovation, an important part of our European culture and a stimulant for the vitality of our rural communities”, he added.
The film, available on YouTube (https://aeur.eu/f/i8w ), delves into the world of organic plant breeding.
“We want to convince policy-makers that funding agroecological research is a more efficient and promising road to ensure food security and sustainability than betting on techno-fixes like NGTs”, emphasised Eric Gall, deputy director of IFOAM Organics Europe.
A second documentary, on the subject of biodistricts, will be released on 15 September, while 14 podcasts will explore these themes in greater depth. Biodistricts are areas where local players (farmers, citizens, local authorities and businesses) come together to promote sustainable management of resources, based mainly on organic farming.
