European Commission sends EU/Mercosur agreement to EU Council for ratification

The European Commission has taken another step towards ratifying the trade agreement between the EU and Mercosur: on Wednesday 3 September it published the proposals for a Council decision on the signing and conclusion of the agreement. It did the same for the agreement with Mexico (see EUROPE B13701A3). 

“Concerns from farmers: I want to assure everyone that we have heard them. This is a new Mercosur agreement”, insisted the European Commissioner for Trade, Maroš Šefčovič.
